Week 3
Digital Image
This week, I created a logo to be used with my 'AI-Powered Resume Writing" course and then incorporated that into a flyer advertising the course. The logo was created in Canva and was created by assembling different graphic elements and backgrounds until I found one that (1) conveyed the theme of modern tech, (2) had a professional yet colorful design that would work well with numerous materials, and (3) was minimalist — no text other than the license mark. There is one primary version of the logo (see right) and then a few variations (in the flyer below) that are still recognizable. The logo was created and added to the website as a PNG file so it would have scalability and transparency properties. The flyer is a PDF, allowing it to be compressed to a smaller size and easily shared with most devices.
For accessibility, I ensured that there was high contrast between backgrounds and text, that text was 16pt or larger, and that there was appropriate negative space. The flyer is intended to be used as a print product (hung in a classroom or common area) but can also be used as an email attachment. If emailed, it would be accompanied by text that conveys all the information from the flyer. Alt text for the actual logo identifies it as a 'decorative logo.'
For licensing, I created the logo and flyer, so there are no existing licensing concerns. All elements used in Canva are copyright-free. I did add a CC BY 4.0 license to the image itself and the flyer, for now; I will reevaluate when launching the course.
Review of this web page. The alerts for small text are for the top level navigation, I am working on a solution for this.
